I woke up today and my chrome is messed up. None of the photos load and the chrome logo at that top won't display. When I open an incognito tab browsing is totally fine. I've cleared cache and uninstalled/reinstalled the app. Any suggestions to fix?

Chrome keeps closing and then opening back up, it’s so annoying as I can’t even use my pc on chrome and if I’m not using chrome then I can use anything else as it just keeps popping up. Win11 PC

For the past few days, I have had nothing but issues with Chrome, and I have seen on this subreddit that others are experiencing the same or similar issues.

Load time is poor when you open the application. If you attempt to move a tab either to another monitor or just away from the existing window, the program shuts down.

I have uninstalled and installed the application and the error continues.

I have chatted in to their support and they have asked what the "error code" says. There is no error code. The application just crashes.

From this subreddit, I have seen others with the same issue, but the rep I have been speaking with seems unaware of known and existing problems.

Has anyone communicated with their support team and received a response thay says they are aware of this issue?

lately my chrome has been shutting down after a couple seconds of opening and reopening with two news tabs with nothing on it except my last name on the address bar and "this site can be reached" as the result.

i saw another reddit post on here talking about a virus they had (the properties extension) that was making their computer do something similar. that post talked about "chrome_test" being one of the things on their app data local files that was causing the problems, which is one of the things on the address bar of the tab automatically being added on my pc. mine does not have any extensions that i can see, though, and is not redirecting me to any other search engines or websites.

this is not working on the chrome installed on my mac or anything else. i ran window antivirus, reset chromed, reinstalled it, deleted any suspicious files or programs, everything i could.

please help i am worried of any malicious hijacking or something going on, but cannot figure out if it is just something simple my computer is doing wrong that i am not noticing.

note: this started happening right after i downloaded shaders for minecraft. that may be where the virus got in??

I was researching a trip to Italy and eventually booked some hotels which required my computer to translate from Italian to English. I always had location services turned off on my mac. Now when I go on incognito it defaults to Italian every time. I can switch it back through "use precise location" but once I close Chrome and reopen it starts the same bs again. Youtube is also set to Italy as well. I turned all necessary location services on both my mac and google chrome and it still refuses to correct itself. I am beyond frustrated by this, any advice?

I like clicked links to remain purple for about 3 months, but at the moment they seem to only stay purple for maybe a week or so. Is there a way to change this?

I have a very strange issue happening with my google account. When I search for something it seems im being 'limited' in some way. Google shopping images don't load in the top. People also ask for does not work. Google maps locations don't work either.

I've narrowed it down to my account as when I log out of safari and chrome, everything works as it should. I have tried deleting, reinstalling, clearing cache and cookies. This has just occurred randomly this morning. My pc and mac are not impacted for some reason.

You can see the difference in the two videos from when I search being logged in, the top left shows a little magnifying glass and some weird animation.

Since using Edge at work, I've been wishing chrome could show your history in a side panel. It's the only shortcoming I see (at least on a layman surface level) with chrome vs edge.

I've looked for extensions myself to no avail (minus one that is supposed to add History to your DevTools but it doesn't work for me)... also see mention of adding Journeys to the side panel last year but that didn't seem to stick. So I'm just curious if anyone knows of an extension that could put history in a side bar?

Two days ago, Chrome gave me a notification saying my Youtube Dislike Viewer extension contained Malware and was disabled. I uninstalled it and now I have no info as to what permissions were allowed(but I feel like it only had access to Youtube thought I could be wrong). I ran Malwarebytes just to be sure, but for some reason in my search history, I can't find the Google Webstore URL even though I know I accessed it, albeit with the link showing the addon was removed. Any recommendations to make sure my info is safe? I use a password manager as well and am considering resetting my passwords.

It's driving me crazy. My banking websites, work logins, etc always prompt me for security questions and 2FA, even if I select "This is a private device. Remember me." It happens on multiple devices (Windows PCs and Mac). It doesn't happen on other browsers (such as Safari and Firefox). That is, those browsers properly remember me and I don't have to enter in text codes on every visit. So it seems to be a Chrome issue. Are there any settings which might be causing this?

apparently on my Linux (Kubuntu 22.04) chrome and related browsers seem to have issues with Files that contan unicode names, for example if they contiain japanese characters if I wanna DL a file that contains those just get renamed to "download" without even a file extension.

also when downloading via an extension using chrome.downloads.download it will just cancel out and return the error "invalid file name".

Firefox on the other hand has no such issue. it's pretty weird in my opinion and I think it's a bit sad

Ever since my last Windows (10) update, many sites refuse to scroll with the touchpad when in Chrome browser.

Sites from this one, Beam - Rain-X (rainx.com) to this one, The Farming and Food Production Protection Act, 1998 and nuisance complaints | ontario.ca refuse to scroll in Chrome...but do it just fine in Edge and Firefox.

What's up with that?? Anyone? Bueller? Anyone?

I was downloading a game from chrome I reached almost 80% of completing the download but speed was very slow so I paused the update restarted my internet and after that I started the download again at first the speed was 0 then I went and came back to this error. Can anyone please help because the game file is really big and I don't want to re-download it.

Does anyone know how to add subtitles to videos on ok.ru similar to those on youtube? I have looked in settings and nothing appears, I have seen other users have subtitles included in their videos.

A friend of mine has developed an extension I'm in love with and I wanted to leave it here so you also can enjoy it. I always struggled with changing the playback speed back and forth and I hated this process. Now as I understand, they fix the words per minute that's most appropriate for me and automatically do the speed-up and slow-down process for me. I think I always have just the right speed now. They are only on YouTube and several educational platforms but I'm asking them desperately to do the same for Audible.

Oh yes, and they're also removing all these annoying pauses for me.

Anyway, I'm hoping they get a lot of attention and I can talk them to also make it available for my audiobooks.

I deleted cookies and signed out of all the accounts, so why are they still here. I can't even delete them.

Every time I restart my computer, my default search engine within the browser changes to yahoo instead of Chrome and I cannot figure out how to keep that from happening. Anyone have any ideas on why this would happen?

My Chrome browser on Windows 11 keeps crashing quietly, that is not while in active use, but between sleep/hibernation and wake-up cycles.

More precisely, my PC frequently goes to sleep, and after longer periods into hibernation mode, and often, not always, when I come back to it and wake it up, I find my Chrome windows (I usually have 2-3 open with a couple of tabs (<10) in each) all closed. Upon re-opening I receive a popup with the following message: Restore pages? Chrome didn't shut down correctly. (See attached screenshot).

What I have tried so far to remedy the situation, based on tips found on the internet:

• Uninstalling Chrome (while keeping my user data though) and re-installing it.
• Disabling hardware acceleration.
• Disabling background apps running when Chrome is closed.
• Triggering updates of all drivers (including the GPU), Windows, Chrome.

My setup is nothing special and essentially from last year: Intel i7-12700 desktop PC with 32 GB RAM, SSDs. The GPU is older though (nvidia GTX 960). I run weekly updates on my Windows, drivers (also the GPU's) and Chrome.

I don't know how frequent this problem is. Does anybody have more troubleshooting tips or can help me work out the cause of these crashes?
