Must be a specific region of America. It's not common in my area. You'll really only see ranch used in salad and occasionally with pizza or buffalo wings.
Aside from that I can't really think of a time in my 35 years of life that I've seen ranch put on anything else.

Lol. I got into a discussion yesterday on this exact point. Also, ranch + chipotle Tabasco = what we affectionally named “crunk sauce” from the local dude slingin his best custom sambos at Jersey Mike’s back in the day.
