You could check his profile, takes seconds. He seems to be from Somalia, and he comments a lot as well as posts a lot. I'm no expert on bots but that doesn't seem very bot like.

You just prompted me to Google Somaliland as i thought Somalia and Somaliland was the same country. There seems to be an interesting story there that I am going to find some more info on when I get the chance.

I love learning about countries and interesting geopolitics. So thanks for the correction.

No problem bro nice to educate people on my country. We formed a union with Somalia in 1960 as two different countries recognised internationally. The dictator killed 200,000+ isaaq ( the predominant clan in somaliland) and up to a million people all together so the SNM was formed (a rebel group that kicked them out of somaliland) with only 3000 people they successfully beat the Somali army who was the best miltary in Africa in the time and one of the best in the world (there’s a mig-21 we shot down in Hargeisa Somaliland). We re claimed our independence on 1991 18 may and since then we are one of the most democratic countries in east Africa. We have found 2 billion barrels of oil which we are about to start drilling but Somalia released statement says they are gonna stop it because they get no money (how sad) but they also tried to block us building a port (like why?) but that failed and also this will fail most likely. Burnt is an adjective. The book was burned (past tense verb) by the man, at which point it was burnt (adjective).

Only in American English. Outside of America burnt is used for both the past tense of the verb burn and as an adjective.

Well according to Similiarweb Americans make ~48% of the users. So users are in fact mostly non-American.

Semantics. Americans form the vast majority, outnumbering the nearest contender (UK) by nearly seven to one.

While technically correct to say "users are mostly non-American," it's somewhat of a misrepresentation. There is no other country which has more representation, not even close. If you had to define the average user by nationality you would have to say American.

No its not, because American English is only the standard in surprise surprise the US. Outside of US its either local variant or English English.

Also only 2/3rds of Americans speak American English.

In some capacity sure or AAVE or amalgamation of multiple different varieties, but I was mainly speaking in official context. Like what they teach in school, official publications etc.

Never forget when you come along with this kind of comments : he might not be an English-speaker.

While it’s nice of you to offer him a correction, I think it can be done in a nicer manner.

My people is often seen as arrogant if they want to correct people that try to speak their language, but we never go « mon dieu, c’est un cauchemar comment tu parles » to someone attempting to speak our language.

Not really. I just adapted to an oral speech, and made a correct translation. We would never directly say « your elocution is a grammatical nightmare » and I think that would be even more rude (to our standards).

Basically the problem is the word nightmare. It was an unnecessary adjective.

Also didn't realize that pointing out grammatical errors was as xenophobic as calling people of another religion "scum of the earth".
