Im not seeing any movement. Explain to me exactly what. Should be seeing here.

Edit- nvm I see it now. Has to do with the fact that the number of lanes expands and detracts as you move towards and away from the toll.

For those wondering. What I see is less of a “moving” affect and more of a 3D affect where the tollbooth is raised up closer to the viewer of the image. Kinda like if you were looking at aerial view of a big speed bump from right above the speed bump…but bigger.

Same - turning it sideways seems to indicate that up means towards your viewpoint in this case, rather than the top of the picture - but still nothing for me either. The cars are moving, but the toll is not.

Nothing in the picture is actually moving. The way the highway flared out to the toll gate and then back in caused the gate to appear to be at the top of a very steep hill.

The signage is facing the camera, the signage that should face perpendicular to the plane of an aerial view, indicating some photo trickery/stitching. Hope that helps you see it.

Hijacking top comment to give more info.

I drive this freeway every day, and it’s really nothing special so I’m surprised to see it here😂 Literally when you get to any toll gate in Korea, you go in the correct lane (choices are typically HiPass [Korean version of FasTrak, the blue lanes], cash for regular cars, machine payment by transportation card, and cash for large trucks). While the freeway does have hilly sections (closer to Pangyo), the land around this particular gate is COMPLETELY FLAT.

This freeway (경부고속도로) leads you out of Seoul metropolitan area and into Bundang, a very large suburban section of Gyeonggi Province, and eventually all the way down to Busan. It gets VERY heavy traffic because it is the only freeway that cuts south through Gangnam, where there’s also a major bus terminal. I’ll agree it happens to have proportionately more payment lanes than driving lanes, but during rush hour it gets jammed regardless. It’s intense.

This was probably taken with a tilt-shift lens. Those lenses people usually use now to make shots like this look miniature. It puts the lens at a different angle to the camera and puts the depth of field at an angle and also makes lines that would be converging as they move into the background (here, the road going into the distance) to appear more parallel. This is probably also cropped from a larger image where that is more visible. When you tilt the lens the other way it severely narrows the depth of field, and makes a wide shot look like a macro shot, hence the miniature effect. I'm not sure I'm explaining that well but I can't find any diagrams.

It literally looks like a tollgate part of a highway, nothing more nothing less.

The angles are as expected from an airial view of a widening and then narrowing part of a highway.

I cannot see anything suspicious after looking at it for what seems to be way to long already.

Yeah i can kinda force myself into seeing it that way, but its definitely not a sticking image like others experience.

If i dont focus on looking at it exactly like this it just is a normal highway again.

I guess others have the vice versa experience and they need to focus to see it realistic.

Took me a while to see it. Kind of imagine the toll area is at the top of a steep hill and the lanes fall away steeply from both sides. Kind of like one of those hidden image things. You need a perspective shift to see it.

No it’s a picture. ‘Moving’ isn’t the right word. OP meant that the toll gate looks like it’s above the plane of the road. Kinda looks like toll gate is on top of a hill and we are looking down at it.

As the cars approach the toll booth, the width of the highway extends and the number of lanes increase. As the cars leave the toll booths the lanes narrow back down. This extension and narrowing, when viewed from directly above the toll booth, is creating the illusion that the tollbooth is at the top of a sharp incline.

I'd guess the photo is from very far away and extremely zoomed in. Probably taken from a helicopter or plane that is horizontally miles from the gate.

The more you zoom in, the fov (field of view) shrinks making the perspective change as well. With a very narrow fov, things far away will seem almost as big as things much closer.

So seeing the road at the top of the photo looking almost as large as the road at the bottom of the photo makes our brains think we are looking straight down, but we're looking mostly horizonal.

The opposite of this would be a fish eye lense, which has an extremely large fov.

I dont think its that, I think the camera is just aligned in such a way that it makes the side of the hill look like a top down photo, I'd bet an actual top down photo would make this look totally different and break the weird illusion we're seeing.

Its very strange looking either way, it really does look somewhat fake, but I'm convinced its real
