It is a strange fate that we should suffer so much fear and doubt over so small a thing. Such a little thing

Boromir! Give the ring to Frodo!
828
u/Lemonades Dec 31 '22
I care not!
Narrator: he cared a lot.

Frodo’s like, “Boromir, I’m a grown ass hobbit, get your hand off my head.”

“Dude, I’m like 10 years older than you, stop treating me like a child.”
29
u/aaron_adams Dúnedain Jan 01 '23
Try about 20-30 years older. At least in the book, in which he was 51. In the movie, I think he was still in his late 30s.

Boramir was 41 when he died
8
u/aaron_adams Dúnedain Jan 01 '23
Ah, my mistake. I thought he was in his 20s or 30s.
14
u/jaspersgroove Jan 01 '23
In the books there are some suggestions that Denethors line does have a hint of the old Numenorean blood, Faramir lived to be 120 I believe. So it would make sense Boramir would look a bit younger than he actually is.

Give them a moment for pitys sake!
Narrator: they could not. By nighttime those hills would be swarming with orcs

What did Legolas' elf eyes see?

The Uruks turn northeast. They're taking the hobbits to Isengard!

Boromir thought his feelings were in check, but, metaphorically speaking, there was a loose seal.

Boromir turns around to find an entire brigade of orcs bearing down on him
I've made a huge mistake.

Gob: I could've been a part of the Fellowship of anyone had bothered to ask me.
Gob tries to dramatically throw the ring into the volcano but the wind blows it back

"But fear no more! I would not take this thing, if it lay by the highway. Not were Minas Tirith falling in ruin and I alone could save her, so, using the weapon of the Dark Lord for her good and my glory. No. I do not wish for such triumphs, Frodo son of Drogo."

I wonder if faramir meant that literally. Like 'hey i just found the most dangerous powerful object in the world. better just leave it here for any old orc or evil dude to take it where it will inevitably find its way to sauron!.'

You cannot wield it! None of us can. The One Ring answers to Sauron alone. It has no other master.

It abandoned Gollum. But something happened then the Ring did not intend. It was picked up by the most unlikely creature imaginable. A Redditor, u/stjimmy96 of the Reddit. For the time will soon come when Redditors will shape the fortunes of all...

Hey Sauron how have you been lately ? Ive been reading up on the Silmarillion and you and Melkor were pretty close it would seem. (according to r/angbang really damn close). I can imagine your mate Melkor being banished to the fringe of existence was certainly not nice. So how have you been holding up ?

Years ago I went to a museum exhibition in Boston about the LOTR Movies and Weta Workshop. At the gift shop, my mom bought me a replica of the one ring on a chain. About a year later, the chain broke and I lost the ring in the woods of New Hampshire somewhere. I always wondered who found it and what their thoughts were about finding “the one ring” in the middle of the woods
