It’s like when I go to Taco Bell. Im not expecting authentic Mexican cuisine. Sometimes shit food is great.

Or Little Caesars. It's just good, for that price. Everybody knows it's just affordable.

150

u/lhobbes6 Feb 06 '23

I feel like people who shit talk affordable stuff as "YoU nEvEr HaD aUtHeTnTiC" are overprivleged dicks. No one thinks these are the greatest quisine, some of us just enjoyed the cheapest versions of things out of necessity.

60

u/toadfan64 Feb 06 '23

I mean I legit love Little Caesar’s Pizza. Was my favorite as a kid and I’d still eat it over many others to this day.

I was honestly shocked to hear how much it gets crapped on when jointing Reddit back in the day.

19

u/Iorith Feb 06 '23

Little Caesars microwaves exceptionally well. As someone who dislikes cold pizza, they're one of my go tos for ordering food for the day after drinking.

→ More replies (1)

38

u/ClassiFried86 Feb 06 '23

Little Caesar's just gets ripped on because they never updated the brand. It's been the same since the 80s at least. While they certainly aren't, they might come across as the Taco Tico of the pizza world.

18

u/toadfan64 Feb 06 '23 edited Feb 06 '23

See that’s even more of a selling point, I love the old school feel of the place when I go in tbh. Same thing for fast food joints that still look like they’re out of the 90s.

14

u/KickFacemouth Feb 06 '23

My complaint about Subway is the opposite. They got passed up by more premium sandwich options, so they constantly feel the need to try to reinvent themselves, and now they cost way more than they used to but are only marginally better. They should have stuck to their guns and said "Fuck Quiznos, we've still got $5 footlongs."

Around here I don't hear anybody ripping on it. They show you what you can buy and how much it costs. There's no need to change in our minds, we respect that they are just straight up you get this for this much.

My wife calls them trash cookies, and buys a box once every couple months.

2.6k

u/TheRealSamBell Feb 06 '23

It’s funny reading all these comments. Every once in a while when I’m at the supermarket I’ll see them I think they look so good and buy a pack. I definitely wouldn’t say they’re awful but they for sure satisfy a craving. Better than spending $3.50 for some fancy cookie at a café only to find out it’s dry as hell

906

u/Northanui Feb 06 '23

I'm actually missing american fast food right now reading these comments. I lived there for a while and right now crave this exact cookie box a lot lmao.

OP can't seem to understand you can like these as well as liking real cookies. The two aren't exclusive, and these things taste pretty good.

212

u/amethystalien6 Feb 06 '23

It’s like the people who say “You know Taco Bell isn’t real Mexican food right?” Obviously it’s not authentic but sometimes it’s what I want.

ETA: I literally scrolled down to the next comment thread and saw my exact point, lol

Look for lofthouse copypcat recipes if you're into baking. I'm a crunchy cookie fan so I wouldn't be able to point to one in specific that gets it right. But they're popular enough you should be able to look at reviews and ingredients to see what bits everyone agrees on.

My mom calls them Jesus cookies because they're "rapturous." She's an amazing baker and makes incredible walnut date cookies from scratch but these are her guilty pleasure cookie, can't fault her for that.

13

u/cakeweefs Feb 06 '23

I call them trash cookies, but I'm right there with your mom. I make several amazing kinds of cookies from scratch - others' opinions, not just mine - but will Kirby a box of these given half a chance.

As a person with cookie knowledge I can say, every cookie is yummy

381

u/SarcasmStreet Feb 06 '23

Clearly you've never encountered a raisin oatmeal charading as a chocolate chip.

This is why I have trust issues.

276

u/Huhrowsh Feb 06 '23

Why wouldn't you like oatmeal raisin. Those are my favorite

192

u/SarcasmStreet Feb 06 '23

I do enjoy a nice raisin oatmeal from time to time I must admit.

But certainly not when I am prepared for a chocolate chip.

41

u/ThatTubaGuy03 Feb 06 '23

If you mistake an OATMEAL cookie with RAISINS for a normal chocolate chip cookie with no oatmeal and no raisins in it, then that's on you. Even if the raisins look like chocolate chips, the fact that the cookie VERY CLEARLY HAS OATMEAL IN IT should make you stop and do a double take

18

u/ItsMorbinTime Feb 06 '23

Whenever I see someone staring at the cookie tray for longer than 10 seconds I let them know that I’m currently eating the last chocolate chip.

74

38

u/SnooEpiphanies6051 Feb 06 '23

Haha yeah from the cinnamon. A good oatmeal raisin cookie has a good amount of cinnamon spice to it

19

Cardamom. Add a bit of cardamom to any cinnamon cookie and it gives it that spicy snap to it.

Blessem. I remember going to a birthday party for my around-the-corner (in a mixed counsel estate) friend and we went to the local supermarket to buy milk to drink...while we played soccer at the local field.

Took me like 10 years to realize the dad's "claustrophobia" was him being on a bender, and his mum buckled up enough to get us to the park. Hope Brinsley is doing alright.

I have no standards. I love this shit.

By the way, unrelated, if you need to dispose of these sorts of cookies, don't throw them out! Send unopened, undamaged packages to [a home address]. This is a charitable organization which processes waste into recyclable materials in the effort to combat the growth of landfills across the globe.

My brother in-law used to do QC for that company. One time when visiting, he brought those cookies, and proudly said that they were only two weeks old. I told him I didn't want stale old cookies, and he then explained the shelf life is months, and I was disgusted with our food supply.

Wrong. I’ve had cookies that my mom baked for me. But I still like these

u/Kinoko98 Feb 06 '23

I mean, sure there are much better cookies out there, but they still taste good and I'll plow through the entire carton if it's in the vicinity.
