u/Due-Environment-9774 Feb 06 '23
My wife calls them trash cookies, and buys a box once every couple months.

u/TheRealSamBell Feb 06 '23
It’s funny reading all these comments. Every once in a while when I’m at the supermarket I’ll see them I think they look so good and buy a pack. I definitely wouldn’t say they’re awful but they for sure satisfy a craving. Better than spending $3.50 for some fancy cookie at a café only to find out it’s dry as hell
906
u/Northanui Feb 06 '23
I'm actually missing american fast food right now reading these comments. I lived there for a while and right now crave this exact cookie box a lot lmao.
OP can't seem to understand you can like these as well as liking real cookies. The two aren't exclusive, and these things taste pretty good.
212
u/amethystalien6 Feb 06 '23
It’s like the people who say “You know Taco Bell isn’t real Mexican food right?” Obviously it’s not authentic but sometimes it’s what I want.
ETA: I literally scrolled down to the next comment thread and saw my exact point, lol

Look for lofthouse copypcat recipes if you're into baking. I'm a crunchy cookie fan so I wouldn't be able to point to one in specific that gets it right. But they're popular enough you should be able to look at reviews and ingredients to see what bits everyone agrees on.

Even better is when you catch them for $1 clearance cause they're a day old and they're priced to sell. I'm going to eat them in one sitting anyways, why do I care if they expect them on expire in only six?

My mom calls them Jesus cookies because they're "rapturous." She's an amazing baker and makes incredible walnut date cookies from scratch but these are her guilty pleasure cookie, can't fault her for that.
13
u/cakeweefs Feb 06 '23
I call them trash cookies, but I'm right there with your mom. I make several amazing kinds of cookies from scratch - others' opinions, not just mine - but will Kirby a box of these given half a chance.

But certainly not when I am prepared for a chocolate chip.

If you mistake an OATMEAL cookie with RAISINS for a normal chocolate chip cookie with no oatmeal and no raisins in it, then that's on you. Even if the raisins look like chocolate chips, the fact that the cookie VERY CLEARLY HAS OATMEAL IN IT should make you stop and do a double take

Blessem. I remember going to a birthday party for my around-the-corner (in a mixed counsel estate) friend and we went to the local supermarket to buy milk to drink...while we played soccer at the local field.
Took me like 10 years to realize the dad's "claustrophobia" was him being on a bender, and his mum buckled up enough to get us to the park. Hope Brinsley is doing alright.
The sugar cookie thing reminded me of that- at least somebody is trying the best they can.
