Okay the AMD sub was no help do maybe yall can help? Open | Hardware

Edit:I forgot the picture

My radeon HD5850 only functions if i apply weight on the cooler which pushes the heat sink down onto these caps (in red) if not its just a black screen. Any ideas on how to make it work?

First off, there is no picture here.

Second off, you likely have an issue with the caps not having a good connection.

Yeah. I probably need to buy a soldering iron and fix it

It is probably just bad connection, but if you have soldering skills, you could replace them (it those are big surface mounted caps), they are usually pretty cheap.

pretty easy and safe to just reheat and reset solder

attach an image otherwise, the other responses seem about right.

usually gpu sockets have a little clip that secures the GPU in place.

additionally you can try to use some >70% isopropyl to clean the metal contacts
