Enphase calls, UBER puts, Pepsi calls

u/armen89 Feb 04 '23
Uber went from taking 25% of driver fare to 50-70% driver gate. My gut tells me calls is the way

Yay! I bought Pepsi calls last week when they were red!
6
u/ParfaitElegant5913 Feb 06 '23
I'm with you on the Enphase calls. What strike are you buying? The December downturn was strange and based on relatively little from what I can tell.
I installed 42 Enphase micro-inverters in the Fall and it really is just plug and play technology, pretty crazy how easy it all was.

I think one of the best ER strategies this week is Uber/Lyft.
Since Uber reports PM on Wed, I’ll probably buy Lyft options at open in whichever direction Uber is headed. Close the position into Thursday close if green.
7
u/Classic-Resist-3517 Feb 04 '23
So you gonna hold on to them?
75
u/Adam_Axiom SPY Champion Feb 04 '23
1 - I’ll abort my plan minutes into Wed open.
2 - I’ll panic buy at the top.
3 - I’ll only have a fraction of the gains.
4 - I’ll then get greedy and hold through ER.
5 - I’ll lose.

Disney puts maybe, UBER calls, PayPal puts, and CVS puts
6
u/Positive-Conflict-35 Feb 04 '23
I'm thinking the same thing,
Uber and Lyft Calls.
I am unsure on Paypal, whats your take?
3
u/Big-Routine222 Feb 04 '23
I’ve just noticed through the calendar review that after almost all of the earnings releases for PayPal, there has been a drop in the price. The past two years have been brutal for them as well. I’m still on the fence though
5
u/Positive-Conflict-35 Feb 04 '23
Go with your gut, that sounds like a solid reason. But I would watch to see how Monday/Tuesday. There's still some leftover bullish bullshit coming.

Just make cheap ridiculous calls on everything. The one that doesn't expire worthless is the one you want.
11
u/Fuman20000 biggest cock in wsb Feb 04 '23
Shit, at this point just buy calls. Market doesn’t care if companies have shit earnings or guidance.

u/urriola35 Feb 04 '23
Uber $33 calls. 🚀 🚀 🚀
52
u/jr1tn Feb 04 '23
I took four ubers last month. Every driver complained payout has been lowered and is not enough. Buy calls.
16
u/AntiHyperbolic Feb 04 '23
Seems like a bad long term model, but good for the short term?
13
u/jr1tn Feb 04 '23
I think they just change the payout formulas constantly, based on supply and demand, and other factors. Right now, it is detrimental to the drivers. Probably only makes sense for part time drivers such as students, retirees, or people supplementing their income.
4
2
u/Necessary-Onion-7494 Feb 05 '23
It depends on what the competition does. If Uber sucks for the drivers and they all move to using Lyft, then yeah, it's bad for Uber in the long term. However if Lyft follows Uber's example then shareholders get the profits and the drivers are screwed. The 2nd is more likely to happen in my opinion.

u/banditcleaner2 Feb 06 '23
So long term puts because all their drivers are about to quit. Dominos calls for all the uber drivers that are about to start working there instead.

People want HOOD to fail but I don’t think they will - earnings will likely show a good long term forecast
4
u/BLAKEEMM Feb 08 '23
Hood might double after this ER. My guess as trading activity increases, shady crypto exchange went out, hood stays afloat and member increasing. I will not surprised if it jumps 50% after ER

Cvs is interesting, way down, wonder if dollar stores still eating their margins.
3
u/UND1SPUTED_B0SS Feb 04 '23
I'm thinking PUTS here. Sure it's been falling down leading into earnings, but it's still above their pre-pandemic price. Only reason it went up was due to their covid vaccine station. Covid play is over with. This boomer store that has carpets in all their aisles is heading back down to $70s. Option price are cheap.

This would be a solid choice. They just announced 2/3rds of their pharmacies are reducing their hours of operation because of a "pharmacist shortage." I work for the company and I assure you that there is no shortage of pharmacists, they're just leaving the company en masse

AFRM shorts were wiped in this latest run, I think they’ll reload and ride this down to $10 again. Got a bunch of Feb 17 and March 17 puts. The disruptive fintechs bubble has burst and I don’t think many of these smaller companies will survive.
