Wtf are you a goddamn moron?
Why the fuck would you sell puts after a stock runs up 100% in one fucking day?
-12
u/AuditControl_Inbox Feb 07 '23
It makes sense sometimes because with moves that huge the IV goes insane. Just last week when lcid popped off on those saudi rumors i sold 9 dollar puts for some free dinner money. Even when that shit instantly dropped from 18 to 12 bucks the IV crush that accompanied it caused my short put position to stay positive.
As long as you dont get super greedy and sell the put too close to atm.

u/Durkka Feb 07 '23
Just pray it stays above $3 for awhile. I've chased IV in other tickers and got lucky holding, but won't touch bbby

You must have gotten a pretty fat premium for those though yeah? (Not saying you're not screwed, but maybe not as bad).

I mean you just have to hold it to expiration and you’re good. Hell just roll it out and cash in on that sweet sweet iv
2
u/sugarfryz1 Feb 07 '23
Depending on when they expire you’re probably fine. Just use the wheel strategy if you get assigned
1
u/Serdief Feb 07 '23
The put myself infront of the wheel laying down in the middle of the road strategy?

Sure that’s reasonable.
“The Company expects to raise approximately $225 million of gross proceeds in the Offering together with an additional approximately $800 million of gross proceeds through the issuance of securities requiring the holder thereof to exercise warrants to purchase shares of Series A Preferred Stock in future installments assuming certain condition are met.The Company cannot give any assurances that it will receive any or all of the proceeds of the Offering.”

Ouch. Imagine thinking then for sure doing a share offering in the future will be bullish. It’s bullish for the company, but bad for the stock. Why tf would you not have sold. Now you’re a bagholder forever.
9
u/MadRiverMount Feb 07 '23
Doesn't the massive dilution worry you?
6
u/Ganengtamdui Feb 07 '23
:4259:
4
u/MadRiverMount Feb 07 '23
Why not? Serious question.
3
u/ncstagger Feb 07 '23
Because it’s preferred shares and warrants and none are to be sold in public exchanges.
15
u/plumpypenguin Feb 07 '23
you know those are convertible to common stock, resulting in dilution right? nobody's gonna fucking buy these if they can't unload them lol
4
u/stockrot PAPER TRADING COMPETITION WINNER Feb 07 '23
My thought exactly .. Warren Buffet loaned BAC billions had Warrants @ $12 I believe and he could exercise when ever the fuck he wanted too. My opinion is anyone putting up 200 mill or 1 bill whatever the fuck it is. Is not going to do it with restricted warrants they are basically in the drivers seat. It will be YOU GIVE US money we give you convertible warrants @ x per share. downvote if you like I dont give a fuck:4275:
-2
u/ncstagger Feb 07 '23
Yes convertible at some point. We don’t yet know when that could be. We’re probably gonna find out real soon if there’s a buyer …

You guys do realize they’ll be diluting the shares, yeah? Bullish for the company, bearish for shareholders lol. Getting excited over something you don’t understand. Oof.

They’re not going bankrupt
17
u/cyberslick188 CFO - Chief Fucking Officer Feb 07 '23
No of course not. They'll just keep closing stores, laying off employees, laying off execs, until eventually they have 4 boutique baby stores in 2 cities and they make $13,000,000 a year in revenue.
By then, naturally, the stock price should be $1500-2500 per share. Bear case.
12
u/MadRiverMount Feb 07 '23
Not immediately. There's still a huge chance they do at some point in future. They still are hemorrhaging money and have less stores. That hasn't changed. Doesn't look good.
4
15
u/peterpanic32 Feb 07 '23
Well they'll burn through the expected cash they're planning to raise in about 2/3rds of a quarter, so bankruptcy still likely, just a little less likely in the near term.
20
u/UltimateMastermind Feb 07 '23
Is this company losing tens of millions of dollars every quarter with no path towards profitability worth 10,000x its current share price? Of course it is, and the only reasonable explanation for it not being there already is crime and a massive conspiracy involving thousands of people, not a single one of whom has flipped.

I think I screwed up. Bought puts at the top but did the math and with IV they might not even be profitable. 🤡 but I guess I’ll see what they are price at at market open. Bought the Feb 17 $5 puts when price was at 6.20.
